How to view platform license status?

Want to know how much time is left on your OmniStor license? Or how many additional accounts you can activate? This article explains how to quickly check your license information.

Where to find license info

  1. Sign in to OSM→In the left sidebar, click Platform Management
  2. Select Platform License ManagementPlatform License Information

What's on the screen?

You'll see "Current status of OmniStor license" with four key fields:

FieldMeaningExample
Company nameThe company name registered when the license was purchasedASUS Cloud Trial Test License
License seatsMaximum number of employee accounts you can activate999
License capacityTotal licensed storage100.00 TB
Expiration dateWhen the license becomes invalid2026-12-31

How to interpret the numbers

License seats vs registered users

"License seats" is the maximum accounts you can activate. If this shows 999 but the home-page accounts chart shows 600 registered, you have 399 seats left for new hires.

License capacity vs actual usable space

⚠️ A common confusion

License capacity is the number you bought (e.g., 100 TB). But in HA deployments, since two copies of every file are stored, actual usable space is 50 TB. See "How is used and remaining space calculated?" for details.

Expiration date

This date is important. After expiration, the platform keeps running, but you'll lose access to support and software updates. We recommend contacting your ASUS contact at least 3 months before the license expires to begin the renewal process.

Want to see add-on module licenses?

If your organization uses add-on modules (such as OmniStor Office or OmniStor Protect), you can view their licenses here:

  1. Sidebar → Platform Management→Choose Platform License ManagementModule License Information
  2. The list displays each add-on module's name and expiration date. Click a module name to view additional details

License is about to expire — what now?

Option 1: Renew

Contact your ASUS Cloud account representative to renew your license. You'll receive a new license file. See "How to update the platform license file" for how to import it into OSM.

Option 2: Expand (seats or capacity)

If you need additional seats or storage capacity, request these changes during the renewal process. The new license will reflect the adjusted seats and capacity.

Option 3: Set up automatic email reminders

Enable license-expiry notifications in OSM, and the system will email you ahead of expiration. See "How to configure license-expiry notifications" for setup.

💡 Reminder

When the license is about to expire, the OSM component monitor won't change color — services still work fine. But if you forget to renew, things get messy when it actually expires. Set up email alerts in OSM and add a calendar reminder.
