Cloud Share Code is a feature that converts a public sharing link into a QR code. Recipients can scan the QR code with their mobile devices to access the shared content instantly. You can also download the QR code as an image and include it in presentations, posters, printed materials, or messages.
This article explains how to generate and use a Cloud Share Code on Android and iOS devices.
Before You Start
Make sure:
- Your OmniStor app is on v3.17.0 or later
- You've already created a public share link for the file or folder
- You have sharing permission for the file or folder
Get a Cloud Share Code
- Open the OmniStor app and go to the file or folder you want to share.
- Tap the menu next to the file or folder, then tap Share.
- On the Share Settings page, tap Public Share. A share link appears.
- In the Share Link section, tap Get Cloud Share Code.
- The QR Code appears. You can either:
- Have the recipient scan the QR Code directly
- Tap Download to save the QR Code as an image, then attach it to a message, slide, or document
Set Link Permissions (recommended)
Before generating the Cloud Share Code, confirm the link's permission:
- On the Share Settings page, select Public Share.
- Under Permission Settings, choose:
- Can view and download — recipients can preview and download
- View only — recipients can preview, but not download
- After setting the permission, return to the Share Link section and tap Get Cloud Share Code.
Strengthen Security
For sensitive content, pair the Cloud Share Code with link security:
- Set a password
- Set an expiration date
- Limit the download count
Path: Share Link section > Link Security Settings.
Verify It Worked
After scanning the QR Code, the recipient should see your shared file or folder in their browser. If they see "link expired" or "password required," check whether you enabled security settings.
Common Issues
- Where is the downloaded QR Code saved? It saves to your device's photo gallery or Downloads folder, depending on your system settings.
- Can I regenerate the QR Code? Yes. When you replace or recreate the public share link, the Cloud Share Code updates accordingly.
- Does the recipient need the OmniStor app to scan it? No. Any QR Code scanner (phone camera or third-party app) works.
