How to Log In to OmniStor Drive

This article walks through each method of OmniStor Drive, what you'll see after signing in, and how auto-login works.

Before You Start

  • OmniStor Drive is already installed
  • Confirmed with your IT administrator which login method your organization uses (standard login, AD/LDAP, or SSO).
  • Prepared the corresponding account information (account, password, service URL).

Three Login Methods

OmniStor supports three login methods:

Login MethodSuitable Organizational ScenarioRequired Information
Standard LoginOrganizations using OmniStor’s own accountsOmniStor account, password, service URL
AD/LDAP LoginOrganizations integrated with Active Directory or LDAPAD/LDAP account, password, service URL
Single Sign-On (SSO)Organizations with SSO enabledService URL (account and password are verified by the SSO platform)

Please first confirm which type applies to you, then follow the steps below to log in.

Starting OmniStor Drive

Launch from either of the following:

  • The OmniStor Drive shortcut on your desktop (double-click the icon)
  • OmniStor Drive in the Windows Start menu

After launching, the login screen will appear.

Standard Login

  1. Enter your OmniStor account on the login screen. Enter your password.
  2. Enter the service URL (obtain from your IT administrator).
  3. (Optional) Check Remember service URL so you won’t have to enter it next time.
  4. Click Log In.

Where does the OmniStor account come from? OmniStor accounts are usually created and provided by your system administrator. If you do not have an account yet, please contact your IT administrator.

AD/LDAP Login

If your organization has integrated Active Directory or another LDAP authentication platform, you can log in directly using your work computer account and password:

  1. Enter your AD/LDAP account on the login screen (usually the same as the account you use to log in to your company computer or email).
  2. Enter your password. Enter the service URL (obtain from your IT administrator). Click Log In.

Reminder: Password resets for AD/LDAP accounts should follow your organization’s existing password management process. OmniStor Drive does not handle this function.

Single Sign-On (SSO)

If your organization has enabled SSO, the login process differs slightly from the previous two—you will not enter your password in the OmniStor Drive window, but will be redirected to your organization’s authentication platform:

  1. On the login screen, enter only the service URL, leaving the account and password fields blank.
  2. Click the Use Single Sign-On (SSO) button.
  3. A browser window will pop up showing your organization’s login page.
  4. Enter your account and password on your organization’s login page to complete authentication.
  5. After successful authentication, OmniStor Drive will complete the final login steps and return to the main interface.

After signing in

First-time sign-in: the tutorial

On your first successful sign-in, OmniStor Drive shows a tutorial to help you understand the main features:

  1. Click Next to step through the pages.

  2. On the final page, click Open Drive to activate the OmniStor Drive virtual disk.

If you don't want to see the tutorial next time, uncheck "Show tutorial on every sign-in" at the bottom-left.

Drive mounted notification

After sign-in and closing the tutorial, the Windows notification area shows "Drive mounted" — OmniStor Drive (W:) is ready, and you can access your cloud files from File Explorer.

Auto-login: ready to use after boot

After your first successful sign-in, OmniStor Drive automatically signs in and mounts the drive every time Windows starts — you don't have to re-enter credentials.

To turn off auto-login logout, or to switch to another OmniStor account:

  • Click the tray icon → settings (gear) → Exit to quit the current session.

  • Relaunch OmniStor Drive, and the sign-in screen appears again.

Multi-user machines: Different Windows users on the same computer can each sign in to their own OmniStor account. Each Windows user's mounted OmniStor Drive is isolated — others can't see your content.

Can’t Find the Virtual Drive?

After a successful login, you should see OmniStor Drive (W:) under “This PC” in File Explorer. If you don’t:

  • Check Windows notifications: Did you see a “Drive Mounted” notification? If not, the login might not have completed properly.
  • Check the taskbar icon: Is the OmniStor Drive icon the normal blue color? If it’s gray, it means the connection to the server has been lost.
  • Restart OmniStor Drive: Exit the program from the taskbar icon, then restart it from the desktop.
  • Check the drive letter: The administrator might have changed the drive letter in preferences (the default is W:).

Login Failed?

If you see an error message during sign-in, see OmniStor Drive: Login failures and common errors. That article maps every login error message from the manual to its meaning and what to do — including Standard, AD/LDAP messages, and how to handle forgotten passwords.
