The OmniStor mobile app offers multiple ways to upload — pick existing files from phone storage, take a photo, record a video or voice memo, and even upload from an external SD card (on Android). This article walks through each method and how to check upload progress.
Before you start
- OmniStor mobile app is installed and you're signed in.
- You're familiar with OmniStor's three default folders (MySyncFolder, Shared With Me, ProjectSpace).

Method 4: Upload from an external SD card (Android only)
If your Android device has an SD card, you can upload files from it directly:
- Open the OmniStor app.
- Choose your destination folder.
- Tap the Add icon on the lower right.
- Select Other Files.
- In File Manager, navigate to the SD card directory and pick your file.
Check upload progress
No matter which method you use:
iOS
Return to the main screen. Upload status is visible in the activity panel or upload list.
Android
- Return to the main screen.
- Tap the Menu icon in the upper left to open the side menu.
- Scroll down and tap Upload List.
Where to find uploaded files
After a successful upload, your file appears:
- In the mobile app: In the folder you chose.
- In OmniStor Drive (Windows): In the matching folder.
- In OmniStor Web: In the matching folder after signing in.
Cross-device sync is immediate — usually within seconds.
Common questions
Q: Is there a file size limit?
A: Yes. The single-file upload limit is set by your permission group. You can see it in OmniStor Web under Account Settings → Account Info. If a large file is blocked, contact your administrator about your quota.
Q: Uploads are very slow. Why?
A: It may be related to your connection setting. Check if "Upload and update files" is set to "Wi-Fi only" — uploads won't happen on mobile data with that setting.
Q: I tapped "Take Photo" but nothing happened.
A: Camera permission may not be granted. Go to phone Settings → OmniStor → and ensure camera permission is allowed.
Q: Can I select multiple files at once?
A: Yes. Most platforms support long-press or multi-select mode in the file picker.
