When you no longer need a file, you can delete it from the OmniStor app — but deleted files don't disappear immediately. They go to the Recycle Bin first, where you have 30 days to restore them. This article covers deleting, restoring, permanently deleting, and emptying the Recycle Bin.
Important note
Files in the Recycle Bin that remain for 30 consecutive days will be deleted by the system over time. As long as a file has been in the Recycle Bin for less than 30 days, you can still restore it.
Move a file or folder to the Recycle Bin
iOS / Android (same flow)
- Open the OmniStor app.
- Tap More next to the file or folder you want to delete.
- From the menu, select Delete.
- In the confirmation dialog, tap OK. The file moves to the Recycle Bin.
- If you need to restore it later or permanently delete it, tap the Categories menu (Android) or the corresponding menu, open the side panel, and select Recycle Bin.
Restore a file from the Recycle Bin
- Open the OmniStor app.
- Open the side menu and select Recycle Bin.
- Tap More next to the file or folder you want to restore.
- From the menu, select Restore.
- In the confirmation dialog, tap OK. The file returns to its original location.
Permanently delete a single file
- Open the OmniStor app.
- Open the side menu and select Recycle Bin.
- Tap More next to the file or folder, choose Permanently Delete, and the file is permanently deleted.
Empty the entire Recycle Bin at once
- Open the OmniStor app.
- Open the side menu and select Recycle Bin.
- Tap the Trash button at the top to clear all files.
Android version requirement: The "empty all" feature requires OmniStor for Android v3.12.0 or later.
