The OmniStor mobile app provides a full sharing workflow — share cloud files and folders with collaborators. This article covers the three sharing modes, the operating steps for iOS and Android, and how to manage what you've shared.
Three sharing modes
| Mode | Description |
|---|---|
| Public Share | Share with anyone via a link, granting view or download permissions; recipients don't need an OmniStor account |
| Share with Members Only | Share with specified members; configure permissions per person |
| Disable Sharing | Cancels the share; the link becomes invalid |
Share settings for a file or folder (iOS flow)
Per iOS V5.4 manual Chapter 5 "Sharing and Collaboration via OmniStor for iOS":
Ways to enter share settings:
- From the file or folder, access share settings via the More menu.
- Or directly create a new shared folder from the "Shared" menu.
- Enter the "Share Settings" page and choose the sharing mode that fits your needs: Public Share, Share with Members Only, or Disable Sharing.
Add a shared folder (iOS)
There are two paths: create a folder first, then configure share settings, or create a shared folder directly.
To create a shared folder directly:
- Open the OmniStor app.
- Tap Categories at the upper left to open the side menu, then choose Shared > Shared by Me.
- Tap the New Folder icon at the upper right.
- In the "Create Shared Folder" dialog, enter a folder name and tap Confirm.
Create a public share link (iOS)
On the "Share Settings" page, choose Public Share — you'll receive a share link. You can then:
- Tap Copy and Send Link: Paste into email, messaging, or other platforms.
- Tap Get Cloud Share Code: Convert the share into a QR code for scanning or download as an image.
- Tap Link Security Settings: Set password, expiration date, or download count limit.
When sharing via a public link, you decide who can view the content and what actions they can perform.
Change or remove member permissions (iOS)
- On the "Share Settings" page, choose Share with Members Only for the file or folder.
- Tap the arrow icon to the right of the member list at the bottom.
- On the "Member List" page, find the member whose permission you want to change. Tap the permission icon next to their name. You can directly change permissions, or toggle "Can Manage Members":
- Can Edit: Can add, create, modify, delete, and download files/folders.
- Can Manage Members: Includes all "Can Edit" permissions, plus the ability to add, change, or remove members — equivalent to a deputy for the owner.
- View Only: Can preview and download files/folders.
- Tap Save to apply.
- To remove a member's permission, tap the Delete icon on the right to stop sharing with them.
Android operations
"Sharing and Collaboration via OmniStor for Android," the Android share-setting flow follows the same logic as iOS: enter share settings via the More menu → choose Public Share or Members Only → configure the relevant options.
View shared folders (Android)
- Open the OmniStor app.
- Tap Menu at the upper left to open the side menu.
- Select Shared Folders.
- You can then choose:
- Shared by Me: Files or folders you've shared.
- Shared with Me: Files or folders others have shared with you.
Create a "Shared by Me" folder (Android)
- Enter the "Shared Folders" page.
- Tap Add at the lower right.
- In the "Create Shared Folder" dialog, enter a folder name.
- In the "Share Settings" dialog, configure access permissions and the member list.
- Tap Back to complete.
Going further: link security
A public share link means anyone with it can open it. Pair with link security settings — see Link security settings (mobile app).
