You've enabled camera auto-upload, but your photos aren't backing up to OmniStor as expected? This article lists the most common causes and troubleshooting steps to help you quickly pinpoint the issue.
Run these basic checks first
Go through the items below in order — most issues turn out to be one of these:
1. Is camera auto-upload still enabled?
In app settings, confirm Camera Upload is still on. Sometimes app updates, sign-outs, or device changes reset it to off.
2. Is your connection method setting appropriate?
If "Upload and Update Files" is set to Wi-Fi only, photos won't upload while you're on mobile data.
Confirm your current connection matches the setting.
To allow uploads on mobile data, switch to Wi-Fi or mobile data (will use mobile data).
3. Is photo permission granted?
The OmniStor app needs photo/library access to read photos for backup.
iOS: Settings → OmniStor → confirm "Photos" permission is "All Photos" or the appropriate level.
Android: Settings → Apps → OmniStor → Permissions → confirm Storage/Media permission is granted.
4. Is there still cloud space?
If your webstorage has hit its quota, new photos can't be uploaded.
Open the OmniStor app and check remaining space in Account Info.
5. Can the app run in background?
iOS restricts background activity. If the app hasn't been opened for a long time, background sync may pause.
Open the app occasionally to give it a chance to check and upload new photos.
Confirm your phone system isn't restricting OmniStor's background activity.
Check upload status
If everything above is fine but some photos still aren't backed up:
iOS
Return to the main screen and check the activity view or upload list for current status and any failed items.
Android
Return to the main screen.
Tap the Menu at the upper left to open the side menu and scroll down.
Choose Upload List to view current upload status.
When auto-backup expectedly won't run
In these situations, camera auto-upload isn't expected to work:
Unsupported photo formats: Certain RAW or specialized formats.
Encrypted or restricted photos: Content marked as protected by the phone system won't be backed up.
Screenshots, photos saved from other apps: Depending on your selected backup scope, some content may be out of scope.
